CDC: Pennsylvania has highest number of reported Lyme disease cases

Pennsylvania now sits at the top of the list when it comes to the highest number of reported Lyme disease cases across the country.

The Keystone state has more cases than any other state with more than 12,200 reported.

Meanwhile, the CDC estimates the real number of cases could be as high as 120,00 cases, and Lyme isn't the only disease ticks could be carrying.

For three local families, tick-borne diseases have been deadly. Now, they're hoping to spread awareness with a video.

This morning on Good Day Philadelphia, Angie Smith, a mother of one of the men in the video stopped by to tell us more about their efforts. They were joined by Julia Wagner, the president of the PA Lyme Resource Network, and she too has Lyme disease along with her husband and children.
