2 shot in Queen Village, 1 identified as Towson basketball player

Two young people are in the hospital after a shooting in Philadelphia's Queen Village neighborhood.

On Sunday night, Towson University's spokesperson identified one of the teens as John Davis, a senior on the basketball team.

Gay Pinder, the Director of Media Relations for the school, released the following statement:

"John stayed back in Philadelphia ‪Saturday night for the dedication of the birth of his son, Bryson Hunter Davis Harris," said head coach Pat Skerry. "He was outside of his family home when a car drove by and opened fire. We are extremely thankful that John, and everybody else involved, was not seriously harmed. Our main focus right now is on the health of John Davis."

Officials say a group of teenagers were hanging out in a parking lot on 4th Street when someone started shooting, just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

One person was hit in the leg and another suffered a graze wound.

The teens were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Jefferson Hospital.

The injuries don't appear to be serious.

Investigators are searching for the shooter.
