Maple Shade schools all clear after evacuations

All Maple Shade School District schools have been cleared of any danger after they were evacuated.

Thursday morning, the district's administration office had gotten an automated message naming an unspecified threat.

According to the district, "The buildings and grounds were searched by the N.J. State Police, the county sheriff's office and the Maple Shade Police Department. Bomb dogs were used in the searches. Nothing was found and the threat was determined to be unwarranted. Each building was cleared by police after an extensive search."

After that, students at Howard Yocum and Maude Wilkins elementary schools returned to their classrooms and resumed normal activities.

Students at R.J. Steinhauer Elementary and Maple Shade High School were dismissed after a four-hour session.

All normal activities will resume Friday.
