Body found wrapped in blanket in West Oak Lane

Police in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane neighborhood are investigating the discovery of a body that was apparently dumped overnight.

Officers were called to the 2000 block Stenton Avenue, near Lambert Street, overnight after they received a call that someone had stumbled across a dead body.

The body of a man was found partially wrapped in a blanket in a grassy area of the block. Investigators say the man was shot in the torso and face.

No gunshots were heard or reported in the area where the body was found, leading investigators to believe the body may have been dumped there.

Police have not yet confirmed the man's identity, but say they believe it is a 46-year-old man who lived in the neighborhood.

Several surveillance cameras were spotted in the area, and police are hoping they'll be able to access that footage in their search for more information.
