$5,000 reward posted after boy, 5, killed in West Philadelphia hit-and-run

A $5,000 reward is being offered in connection with a hit-and-run in West Philadelphia that killed a 5-year-old boy.

The reward, posted by the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police, will be given to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the driver who fled the scene after the crash.

Tips or information can be given by calling Philadelphia police at (215) 686-TIPS.

The incident took place on the 5000 block of Irving Street just after 4 p.m. Friday when a green sedan struck Xavier Moy and fled the scene.

Xavier was transported to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

"I've never seen anything like that before in my life. It was just tragic," said neighbor LaShay Payne.

Family and neighbors described Xavier an energetic kid full of life.

"He was really sweet. I walked past his house a few days ago and he was just excited to tell e his age and what he liked to do. I see him play out here every day and for something like that to happen, it just really sickens me," Payne stated.

Police are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area in the hopes of finding the driver.
