Officials investigate cause of North Philadelphia church fire

Investigators are still looking for a cause after a massive fire at a North Philadelphia church.

The fire broke out at the Apostolic Faith Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on the 1500 block of North Broad Street Thursday afternoon. The structure has been there still 1933.

The fire forced a temporary evacuation of more than a hundred students living in an apartment building across the street.

The church only had a congregation of about a dozen people, but the pastor's son says the loss is devastating, especially before one of the holiest days on the Christian calendar.

"We know when we left here Tuesday night, everything was fine. The heat was off, the lights was cut off, the building was secure, and everything was fine," Frederick Tookes explained.

The fire commissioner says the building is a total loss, and it could take months to determine how it all started.

No one was hurt in the fire.
