Missing teen found in Mexico returns to Allentown, suspect arrested

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A teenager who went missing for almost two weeks is back at home in Allentown, Pa.

Sixteen-year-old Amu Yu was found in Playa del Carmen on Saturday with 45-year-old Kevin Esterly, a married father of four.

Officials say the man frequently signed her out of school without her parents' permission. Yu allegedly altered her student records to have Esterly listed as her stepfather.

Esterly is now jailed in Miami. He will face child custody interference charges if and when he is extradited back to Pennsylvania.

The search started back on March 5, when Yu was first reported missing. Police issued an alert two days later.

On March 8, police learned Yu and Esterly took a one-way flight to Mexico. Mexican authorities issued an Amber Alert last Thursday.

On Saturday, police found the two at a resort in Puerto Moreles.
