3-year-old accidentally shoots uncle in Center City, police say

Police are investigating a shooting in Center City Friday afternoon after they say a toddler apparently got a hold of a gun, and shot his uncle in the shoulder.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. near 16 th and Arch Streets.

Police say an off-duty Housing Authority Officer was in the car with the 24-year-old victim and a 3-year-old child in the backseat.

The officer needed to make a stop inside City Hall and left the car with the other two occupants inside. That's when police say the toddler found a gun under the seat and pulled the trigger, striking the victim at least once in the shoulder.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
