WEST PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia police have announced charges against four suspects in the shooting deaths of four people who were found in a West Philadelphia basement last month.
Police had originally announced murder, robbery and related charges against 32-year-old Jahlil Porter. Wednesday, authorities charged Robert Long, 30, Nasir Moss Robertson, 36, and Keith Garner, 34, with murder, robbery, and related offenses.
Police discovered the victims’ bodies around noon on Monday, Nov. 19 on the 5100 block of Malcolm Street.
The male victims were cousins identified as 31-year-old William Taylor and 28-year-old Akeem Mattox, both of the 5100 block of Malcolm Street.
The female victims, who were sisters, were identified as 20-year-old Tiyaniah Rakele Hopkins and 17-year-old Yaleah Hall, both of the 2600 block of North 9th Street.
Investigators believe Taylor and Mattox found a stash of drugs while they were renovating homes. At least one of the men contacted one of the suspects to try to sell the stash of drugs.
The suspects are accused of trying to rob the victims during the alleged deal, before shooting all four of them in the basement.
Police would not say what drugs or how much were found. They also would not say which man they believe had set up the deal. But Ross said the stash was so small "it would blow your mind" that it led to such a crime.
