Deaths of 2 Philadelphia women considered heat-related

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Authorities say two heat-related deaths have been recorded in Philadelphia during the current heat wave.

The medical examiner's office said heat was a factor in the death of a 67-year-old north Philadelphia woman along with diabetes, congestive heart failure and obesity.

The death of an 82-year-old northeast Philadelphia woman was also related to the heat along with heart disease and high cholesterol.

Those are the only two heat-related deaths associated with the current excessive heat. There have been four other heat-related deaths this year.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the city through 9 p.m. Sunday, with highs expected in the mid to upper 90s and lows only around 80.
