Hot Sauce for Heat: Teen donates proceeds from hot sauce company to help others

A local teen is using his hot sauce business to help heat the homes of those in need this winter.

Lev Burstein is unique for a 13-year-old. He's already embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, and he's using that to make a difference in his community.

"I was thinking of a bunch of ideas and I came up with the idea of 'Hot Sauce for Heat.' I give a portion of the proceeds to people who can't afford heat in the winter," Lev explained.

Hot sauce for heat was Lev's idea of how to start a business, but also help people. He started making hot sauce in his parents' kitchen and selling it on street corners and at farmers markets, now he's online and has a goal of getting into restaurants and retail stores.

"Throughout Philadelphia, there are sixteen thousand homes that seriously struggle to pay for heating bills. My goal is to reduce that number," Lev said.

Lev and 'Hot Sauce for Heat' is well on his way. Lev is not even old enough to drive, yet he's been making donations to several organizations and making sure people stay warm as winter approaches.
