Man charged with murder of 6-year-old stepson in Southwest Philadelphia

Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of his 6-year-old stepson, who died in his Southwest Philadelphia home Thursday evening.

Michael Williams, 38, was arrested and charged with the murder of his stepson, Travon Register.

Williams told authorities that his stepson slipped and hit his head on the kitchen floor of their home on the 100 block of South Daggett Street around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say his stepfather moved him to a bed upstairs, but waited more than an hour and a half to call for help.

Register's mother was reportedly at work at the time of the incident.

Williams has been charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
