Newark Police identify man who attempted to abduct two people

NEWARK, DE - The Newark Police Department has identified and obtained an arrest warrant for a man who attempted to abduct two people on July 4 in Newark, Delaware.

Police are now looking Joseph B. Rudge, 35, after they received a tip that Rudge fit the description of the person seen on video.

Through an exhaustive investigation, including serving a search warrant at his last known address, detectives were able to identify Rudge and obtain an arrest warrant.

Rudge is currently at large and considered homeless. It is believed that he is still in Newark and could be frequenting Main Street.

The public is asked, if seen, to call 911 immediately and do not attempt to apprehend on your own.
