Police: Woman stabbed to death in West Philadelphia

Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death in West Philadelphia Monday morning.

Shortly before 7 a.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of West Thompson Street, where a blood trail could be seen leading up to the home.

Authorities say the 30-year-old woman, later identified as Emelia Alamo, was discovered with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors described hearing what sounded like repeated pounding, as if someone was banging against the wall, at the time of the incident.

"So bad it shook upstairs where I live," neighbor Felicia Barley told FOX 29.

Officials say the block captain called 911 after she saw a man naked on the sidewalk yelling, "She's trying to kill me."

Barley said she too heard the yelling.

A suspect was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody.

This is an ongoing investigation.
