MEDFORD, N.J. (WTXF) - In Burlington County, New Jersey, a woman is in the hospital after being injured due to what police say was a road rage incident.
Police are searching for the man they think is responsible.
“The suspect got out, brandished a baseball bat and began yelling at the victim,” said Lt. Art Waterman, with the Medford Township Police.
The composite sketch of the man was described to police by a terrified young woman.
Lt. Waterman said, “Did not properly handle the curve on Ark Road impacting a tree.”
She sped away from the man before losing control on Ark Road near Church Road, said Lt. Waterman.
Surveillance cameras captured the man’s car as he allegedly pursued the woman thru three municipalities, tailgating and taunting from Mount Laurel thru Lumberton and into Medford Township.
“She did not sustain life threatening injuries. However, the trauma in having someone come after you like that has really terrified the victim,” explained Lt. Waterman.
Lt. Waterman says the young woman admits it all started in an exchange of words in traffic between the two that really got out of hand.
“It is an unusual case, one of those where you have stuff like this goes on every day. This one seemed to escalate for some reason and cause the suspect to become irate and to come after the victim,” said Lt. Waterman.
