Upper Darby man charged with aggravated assault of elderly mother: 'He is a true scumbag'

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WTXF) - Police have charged a man they say is responsible for beating his elderly mother in Upper Darby.

Christopher Pergolese, 52, has been charged with the aggravated assault and strangulation of his 81-year-old mother.

"He is a true scumbag," said Upper Darby Police Chief Michael Chitwood.

Police say the assaults took place over the course of a week and that the photos of the mother are "simply unbearable to look at."
