NTSB final report on Amtrak 188 disaster expected

The National Transportation Safety Board plans to deliver its final report about last year's deadly Amtrak crash back in Port Richmond.

The report is expected to say the engineer, Brandon Bostian, lost awareness while operating Train 188 from Washington to New York.

Federal crash investigators believe Bostian was distracted by numerous radio transmissions about a rock thrown through the windshield of a nearby SEPTA commuter train just after 9pm on May 12, 2015.

NTSB member Robert Sumwalt summed up by saying, "He went -- in a matter of seconds -- from distraction to disaster."
