Officer talks suicidal man down off bridge ledge in California

On November 17, police officers in Contra Costa, California, were called to a bridge where a man was sitting on a ledge, contemplating suicide. After an officer spoke with the man, he was successfully able to talk him down from the ledge.

Contra Costa Highway Patrol shared a photo of officer Thomas Westropp-Bennet talking with the man and said their officer was able to convince the man to come down by "relating some of his own personal difficulties in life and helping the man understand that there are people that care about him and can help him."

The photo of two speaking to each other has gone viral and picked up over 2,100 likes and over 600 shares since it was posted on November 17.
