Owner returns, suspected burglar runs away with nothing

Police released surveillance pictures of a man they say broke into an apartment and was surprised when the person who lived there showed up.

Philadelphia police said it happened back on May 12 at a building in the 900 block of N. 63rd Street.

They said the man got into the building in the middle of the afternoon, and these pictures are from the third floor. Notice he was wearing a yellow safety vest that said SEPTA on the back.

They said he made it into someone's apartment "and was in the process of taking several electronic items."

That's when the 26-year-old man who lived there got home. He startled the burglar, who ran off without taking anything.

Police say they're looking for a bald man in his 50s. He was wearing a gray Polo shirt, gray slacks, and that yellow safety vest that said SEPTA on the back.

If you recognize him or know where he is, you're asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPDTIP (773847), or click here to submit a tip. Police say all tips will be confidential.
