Police: 8-year-old girl struck, killed in Overbrook hit-and-run

- Philadelphia police say a child was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on 63rd and Lansdowne Ave. in Overbrook.

It happened shortly after 3:15 p.m. Friday.
According to police, 8-year-old Jayanna Powell was struck by a vehicle believed to be a silver 2009-2016 Nissan Maxima or Altima. The vehicle should have damage to one of the front headlights as well as damage to the front grill area.
The child was transported to Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after 3:30 p.m.
"She was the happiest little girl ever. She has manners. She was always happy always laughing," her family told FOX 29.  "You took our princess from us she's gone now."
So far, no arrests have been made. The little girl's brother was also struck but is expected to be OK.
