Police investigate donation jar theft in South Philly

Police say they are searching for a man accused of stealing a donation jar with money for children.

According to police, on November 1, a man walked into Porter Street Beverage in South Philly and came to the counter to buy a bottle of beer.

"He paid me and I give him a bag and he stay over there and put the beer on the bag," Sok Chauth said.

Her cameras caught him fiddling with the bag. And then, the video shows with his left hand, he reached over to a filled donation jar sitting there, which was taped to the wall. Back to putting his beer in the bag, and not to be deterred, the tape is no match for his will to steal. He rips the jar free and off he goes right past two male customers, according to the video.

The donation jar was collecting money for a children's charity. Money, as she puts it, from the hearts of her customers.
