Police: 1 dead, 2 injured in North Philadelphia shooting, suspects sought

Police are investigating a triple shooting Tuesday night in North Philadelphia that left one man dead and two critically injured.

Investigators say the shooting happened at the Howard Street Grocery store on the 2900 block of North Howard Street shortly after 6 p.m.

According to authorities, two men exited a gray mini van and ran into the store where they opened fire on three victims. Police believe the three victims were specific targets of the gunmen.

"We can surmise at this time that they saw who they were looking for," said Commissioner Richard Ross. "They didn't chase them into the store, they saw them in the store and that's when they went inside."

Commissioner Ross said the police have surveillance video from the store but are looking for more video from cameras in the area.

"They may have started firing from the outside once they opened the door but certainly they went inside and continued to do so," said Commissioner Richard Ross.

All three victims were shot multiple times and taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment.

Two of the men are currently in critical condition. The third victim was pronounced dead shortly before 6:30 p.m.

This is an ongoing investigation and police have not made any arrests.
