Crews recover missing woman's body from Pennypack Creek

Officials are investigating after rescue crews recovered the body of a missing woman from Pennypack Creek in Northeast Philadelphia.

Emergency responders were called to Pennypack Park around 6:45 p.m. Saturday by a man who said a 30-year-old woman he was with was missing.

The man said the two were taking pictures in a storm drain when the water swept her away. A flash flood warning was in effect at the time.

A marine unit searched until about 9 p.m. Saturday and resumed the effort after daybreak.

Officials say a woman's body was discovered upstream from Frankford Avenue around 10 a.m. Sunday.
