Police: Multiple injured after driver strikes group in North Philly

Police say a man is in custody after a car plowed into a group amid an altercation in North Philadelphia, injuring several people, one of them critically.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday at 16th Street and Lehigh Ave.

Police believe the driver ran into the group after an altercation. Police say a 37-year-old man was listed in critical condition with a head injury and trauma to the body. A 28-year-old man had arm injuries and a 40-year-old woman had shoulder and foot injuries. Both were in stable condition. A 17-year-old girl had hip and leg injuries and a 19-year-old woman had minor injuries.

According to police, the 44-year-old driver suffered head and facial injuries. He is in custody at Hahnemann University Hospital.
