City council holds hearing on Amazon bidding process

Philadelphia is one of more than 200 applicants waiting to hear if it has won the bid for Amazon's new headquarters. Meanwhile, city council wants to know more.

Council members heard testimony on Monday about the proposal and strategies that could help lure in other businesses.

Council member Derek Green, along with members of Mayor Jim Kenney's administration spoke about staying "on brand" throughout the proposal process.

"We've already decided that we're going to continue to meet as a group on a monthly basis to work towards continuing to promote the city and developing tools that are not just structured for Amazon or focused on Amazon but in the long run," said Sylvie Gallier Howard of the Department of Commerce.

Amazon says the location of its second headquarters will be announced sometime in 2018.
