Protestors urge for safer bike lanes in Center City

Protestors plan to gather Tuesday morning to urge Philadelphia officials to adapt safer bike lanes after a cyclist was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Center City.

The incident took place the morning of November 29 near 11th and Spruce Streets. The victim was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Supporters are hoping to bring attention to bicycle and motorist safety, with many calling for flex barriers, brighter street lines and curb extensions.

The event is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
