10,000 reward being offered in deadly Radnor hit-and-run

- Surveillance video captures the SUV Radnor Township police say hit a man and kept going. The driver of the white GMC possibly a Yukon has eluded them for three days now.

It happened during the snow and rain mix around 8 p.m. Tuesday night on the 500 block of East Lancaster avenue.

"First of all we express our true sympathy to the family and friends of this victim as he was struck down simply walking across the street," said Deputy Chief Christopher Flanagan.

A series of clips show the SUV passing the Wayne movie theater on the 100 block of Lancaster Avenue.  The next one captures it passing a car wash on the 400 block of Lancaster Avenue with visible headlight and front fender area damage. Another clip at 252 and Route 30 in Paoli shows the vehicle again.  It was last captured making a left on Paoli Pike heading toward Chester County.

"This is a similar type vehicle that we are looking for. It’s a GMC Yukon possibly with those type of 22 inch rims," said Highway Patrol Officer Ken Piree.

The victim is 69-year old Fred Gitterman.  Police believe he may have been going to or leaving a nearby restaurant when he was hit.

"Radnor Police applied CPR and an AED.  The subject was taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital where he was pronounced deceased," said Deputy Chief Flanagan.  Police say witnesses tell them he was in the crosswalk when he was hit and that the driver tapped the breaks but then sped off.

“Clearly they knew they hit somebody. They applied the brakes. The witness stated it was a loud thump. We have a witness statement from the parking lot above the hill there they heard the thump. Had they stopped it was just a mere accident," said Officer Piree who is also a crash reconstruction expert and says from looking at the videos it doesn't appear the driver was speeding at all.  They weren't able to capture the license plate. It may be a 2016 or newer model.

A $10,000 reward is being offered leading to the arrest and conviction of driver.
