Strong sales push Mega Millions jackpot to $540 million

Continued brisk ticket sales have pushed Friday night's Mega Millions estimated jackpot to a $540 million annuity value or $380 million cash.

The Pennsylvania Lottery reports, when the jackpot was boosted midday, Mega Millions tickets were selling at a rate of about 2,300 per-minute.

There was no jackpot winner in the Tuesday's drawing, so the jackpot rolled past the half-billion dollar mark to a $508 million annuity value or $357.7 million cash.

The current jackpot has rolled 34 times to get to this level, the game's third-largest jackpot offering.

A ticket worth $1 million in Tuesday's drawing was sold at sold in Mount Pleasant, Pa. It matched all five white balls drawn.
