Surveillance video shows struggle over gun in West Philadelphia attempted robbery

Philadelphia Police recently released disturbing surveillance footage from a shooting that occurred in West Philadelphia, hoping that it will lead to the suspect's identification and location.

The incident occurred on August 9 at 12:10 a.m.

Police responded to reports of a person with a gun at the Lancaster Hoagie City deli located on the 600 block of North 40th Street.

When police arrived, they met the 22-year-old victim outside. The victim told police that while inside the deli, the unknown male suspect grabbed him from behind in an attempt to rob him.

The victim was armed and licensed to carry. He fought off the suspect, but his gun fell from his hip in the process, and the suspect grabbed it, gaining control.

The two fought over the gun, and the suspect fire one shot towards the victim, missing him.

The suspect then fled from the store as the victim chased him, but lost sight of him.

The suspect is a black male with a dark complexion in his early 20s. He stands about 5'9" - 5'10" and was wearing a checkered shirt with a red or orange-colored shirt underneath, and a red baseball cap.
