Suspect arrested in murder, dismemberment of Tonya Cook

Police have arrested 52-year-old Dennis Parrish whom they believe to be responsible for the violent murder of a Vineland, New Jersey woman.

Back on July 2, the remains of 32-year-old Tonya Cook were found in Lawrence Township in Cumberland County dismembered and burned. Police have now identified and arrested Parrish as a suspect in the investigation.

Parrish was charged with desecration of human remains and moving human remains. He is currently at the Cumberland County Jail where he will wait for a bail detention hearing.

New Jersey State Police say that although Parrish has been arrested, the case and investigation will remain active, and urge community members with any information to come forward.

On Thursday night, family and friends held a vigil for Cook.

"She was fun loving and always smiling. She's going to be missed," said Ella Scurry, a cousin of Cook's.
