Suspected mumps scare at Kutztown University a negative test

The mumps scare at Kutztown University was stamped out by health officials Friday.

The university announced that one student had a suspected case of mumps and was self-isolating.

However, later in the day, officials said the student's test results for mumps came back negative.

"Our medical staff has received negative test results for the suspected mumps case," said Kutztown officials. "There are currently no cases of mumps at Kutztown University."

Temple University has been the campus most notably affected by mumps. As of this week, Temple has dealt with over 100 suspected cases and several confirmed cases of the contagious virus.

Drexel University and West Chester University also reported cases of mumps.
