Wilmington Man Arrested For 7th DUI after Hitting Parked Bus

Delaware State Police announced Friday that they have arrested a man for his seventh DUI.

The arrest came after a property damage crash that occurred Thursday morning.

According to police, officers were responding to a call of an unresponsive driver behind the wheel of a vehicle in a bus yard in Newark.

When officers got to the scene, they discovered John R. Owens, 57, unconscious behind the wheel of a Dodge Caliber.

Police say Owen's drove into the lot and struck the rear of a parked bus. Owens then left the lot, re-entered and struck a chain link fence, before passing out inside of the vehicle.

Owens was transported to Christiana Hospital for evaluation, but did not sustain any injuries.

The Wilmington native, was later arrested for his 7 th DUI offense, driving with a suspended license , and no valid proof of insurance.
