Woman fights back against online bullies after they mock her boyfriend's size and looks

A cute photo featuring a young woman, her boyfriend, and her father playing around at a wedding has become the subject of ridicule after being posted on Reddit.

Ashley Stevens, her boyfriend Christopher Reed, and Ashley's father were all at attendance for her cousin's wedding when Ashley caught the bouquet. She decided to capture the moment with a picture.

Ashley told People magazine, "I told them we should make funny faces," said Ashley. "We posted it on Facebook, our friend sent it to Reddit, and the following morning we were on their homepage."

Unfortunately, with the newfound fame came a flood of negative comments.

"People were saying she was too good-looking for me and that it looks like I have Down syndrome," Christopher told People. "Some comments said there was no way I could be her boyfriend and they made fun of my weight."

But despite that, the couple - who have been dating for almost two-and-a-half years - refused to give in to the backlash.

"When we looked at what people were saying, we laughed," Christopher said. "We both have the mind-set that that we understand who we are as individuals and what we have for each other."

Ashley, who attends Columbus State University along with Christopher, agreed, telling People, "Our relationship is real, and we both care about each other very much. Our relationship - it's not about looks - it's about what is inside."

She took to Facebook again to express her feelings, telling people not to look at the negative comments and instead focusing on her relationship with Christopher.

"Well let me just tell you, I won the jackpot with Christopher," Ashley wrote. "He may not have rock hard abs like the world tells girls to want in a guy, but really, why does that even matter when you are trying to really find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with?

"He is so thoughtful and patient, he always shows me how much he loves me in little ways, he is my best friend. I love him for who he is and he loves me for who I am."
