Police: Driver charged in hit-and-run that killed woman

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police say a woman was killed after a driver crashed into her parked car and fled Saturday afternoon in South Philadelphia.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m on the 1800 block of S. 13th Street.

According to police, a Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the 1800 block of S. 13th Street when it struck three other vehicles. Investigators say the crash caused a Silver Fiat to crash into another vehicle. Police say one of the vehicles was occupied by a driver. She was transported to Jefferson Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:36 pm.

Police say the driver of the Accord did exit the vehicle and attempt to take the license plate off of the car before he fled the scene on foot.

According to police, Anthony Russino 59, was arrested and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Homicide by Vehicle -Dui/F3,VC3742 , Accident involving death/F3, VC3802 - DUI-Alcohol or Drugs/M1 and CC4910 - Tampering with Evidence/M2.
