Eagles Jalen Mills named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Mills performance was highlighted by and an interception that was returned 37 yards for a touchdown after Mills weaved around the 49ers to make his way into the end zone.

Mills, a second-year player out of Louisiana State University, also accounted for three tackles in the game, as he and the Eagles defense held rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard to just 167 yards passing, with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Mills and his three interceptions have been an integral part of an Eagles secondary that was expected to struggle during the preseason due to a lack of experience at the position.

Mills, along with veteran Patrick Robinson and rookie Rasul Douglas, have surprised many around the NFL with their performance behind a strong group of linebackers and even stronger defensive line.
