Weather Authority: Warm and muggy Wednesday with spotty storms

The Philadelphia area is slated for a warm and muggy Wednesday with areas of patchy fog early in the day.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop in the afternoon. Temperatures will top out at 82 degrees.

Rain is expected to remain in the forecast through Friday.

Meanwhile, hurricane and storm surge watches have been issued as Hurricane Florence, a strong Category 4 storm, closes in on the Carolinas. The Philadelphia area may not see impacts of the storm until Monday.
