Tens of thousands still without power in Pa.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Tens of thousands of homes and businesses remain without power in Pennsylvania following Friday's storm that swept across the northeastern United States.

As of 1 p.m. Sunday, the governor said 236,000 utility customers remain without power in the commonwealth, down from a high of 587,000 at the height of Friday's storm.

Utilities said crews were working around the clock to help restore power to customers, and PPL said it was recalling about 25 linemen now doing storm restoration work in Puerto Rico to help out in Pennsylvania.

PECO says it concentrates on high-power transmission lines and substations, then critical health and safety facilities such as hospitals, police and fire stations, and then areas that will restore power to as many customers as possible.
