PHILADELPHIA - Parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey could see strong thunderstorms and localized flash flooding late Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front moves through the region.
What to expect in Pennsylvania and New Jersey
What we know:
The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are likely as the front approaches overnight.
The greatest chance for strong to potentially severe storms is north and west of Philadelphia and into northern New Jersey after midnight through the pre-dawn hours Sunday.
Locally heavy rain could lead to isolated flash flooding in those areas, according to the National Weather Service.

What about Saturday?
What we know:
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm could affect extreme southern New Jersey Saturday morning into early afternoon.
Forecasters said the heaviest rain is now expected to stay south and east of most of the region, reducing the earlier flooding concern. The remaining excessive-rainfall risk is focused on Delmarva and Cape May County.
When does the weather improve?
What's next:
The cold front is expected to pass through late Sunday morning.
Conditions should improve Sunday afternoon, with dry and seasonable weather expected Monday through at least the middle of next week.
Jersey Shore rip current risk
The National Weather Service has issued a moderate risk for dangerous rip currents at the Jersey Shore on Saturday.
Beachgoers should only swim near a lifeguard and avoid entering the water if caught in a rip current. Instead, swim parallel to the shore until out of the current.
