Man in critical condition after 7 Philadelphia officers open fire in West Philadelphia
A 37-year-old man is fighting for his life after seven Philadelphia police personnel opened fire during a confrontation in West Philadelphia. Officers were flagged down near North 52nd and Funston streets, where the man was seen holding a gun to his head on a porch. Following nearly 15 minutes of negotiation, police say the man pointed his firearm toward officers, prompting four officers and three supervisors to fire multiple rounds. The man, who did not discharge his weapon, was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
