NEW JERSEY - For some South Jersey residents, the next Amazon package they order might just drop out of the sky.
What we know:
Amazon is preparing to launch a same-day drone delivery service operating out of Gloucester County in mid-October, aiming to deliver packages to customer doorsteps in 30 to 60 minutes.
While the technology promises unprecedented convenience, local officials are warning residents that the skies above their neighborhoods are about to get a lot busier.

According to a Facebook post by the Mantua Township Police Department, the drones will be launching from Amazon's massive fulfillment center in neighboring West Deptford. The proposed delivery zone covers almost the entirety of Mantua Township as well as the Borough of Wenonah.
Drone deliveries will be limited to daylight hours, starting 15 minutes before sunrise and ending 15 minutes after sunset. The drones are also authorized by the FAA to operate at altitudes strictly below 400 feet.
What we don't know:
Local officials have yet to announce if any other South Jersey cities or townships will be included in this initial fall launch. Furthermore, it remains unclear which neighboring communities might be added to the flight paths in the future.
