Man Charged with Murder in Wilmington Shooting

Police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting that killed a 25-year-old woman and injured two others.

Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of W. 7th Street around 2 p.m. Monday. Police say they found a 25-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper torso and 4-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her legs. According to police, the 25-year-old female homicide victim was identified as Latrice Blackshear, of Wilmington. Police say the 4-year-old shooting victim was her daughter.

According to police, on August 12, Tyler Carter,21, was apprehended by officers of The United States Marshals Service at Oak Tree Apartments in Newark, Delaware without incident. Police say Carter is charged with Murder 1st Degree During the Commission of a Felony, Murder 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and 4 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

The 4-year-old victim was immediately transported to the Wilmington Emergency Room by assisting officers. The 25-year-old female victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room where she was pronounced deceased. A third victim, a 51-year-old female, was transported via personal vehicle to the Wilmington Hospital and was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to her left leg area.

The shooting remains under investigation.
