Police: Man attempts to steal vehicle with child inside in Falls Township

Police in Bucks County have identified a man they say attempted to steal a vehicle from a gas station with a child still inside.

Donald Darnell, 31, is facing a number of charges after police say he got into an SUV while the owner was pumping gas and attempted to drive off.

Falls Township police are investigating after they say a man attempted to steal a vehicle with a child inside.

It happened at the Sunoco on the 8000 block of New Falls Road around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police, a man believed to be in his early 20s, walked up to an SUV as the owner was pumping gas. Police say he started to drive off, but perhaps noticed a child in the car seat because he then jumped out and ran off.

Authorities say they caught the suspect but he doesn't yet face charges because when he tried to run from officers he ended up injured.
