Police: Woman shot and killed in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in West Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of 42nd Street, where a 36-year-old woman was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim, later identified as Jennifer Smith of Westminster Avenue, was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
