Tis the season for traveling. Officials estimate a record number of people will take to the skies and the road to head somewhere for the holidays. There has already been a steady stream of travelers in the Delaware Valley.

There's nothing better than being home for the holidays. But, getting there can be for the dogs.

800,00 people will pass thru Philadelphia International Airport during this holiday season through January 1, 2018.

FOX 29 found two travelers trying to cheer up everyone else. They were playing guitar while waiting for their friend to pick them up. No sign of the friend after 45 minutes.

"We're waiting for our ride. He said he's coming in, maybe traffic, we don't know," said one of the friends.

"We'll go with traffic, to save him some face," said the other friend.

Almost 6 ½ million people are flying this holiday. Many, surprised that the lines weren't longer.

"We got through in about ten minutes and we haven't had any issues since," said Daniel Mills.

Traveler Alena Farrell said, "We got to the airport an hour before they were supposed to take off and we made it through."

"I thought it'd be a lot more chaotic in there, but everything seemed to go very smoothly. Again, everybody's in a good mood, everyone's really nice, so that helps," said traveler Heather Mills.

FOX 29 did find some delays by rail. Jessica Allen was trying to get to Connecticut to see family, but the train was running at least 30 minutes late and counting.

"I was supposed to get there at 10:45 p.m., but now, probably 11, 12. You never know," said Allen.
