Girl Scout cookie season begins with massive delivery in Valley Forge

It’s that time of year again for Thin Mints, Samoas and peanut butter patties. Girl Scout cookie season is officially underway after a large delivery arrived in Valley Forge, marking the start of sales for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. Organizers say about 25,000 preordered packages were delivered, with more shipments expected in the coming weeks. The annual cookie season runs from January 15 through March 8. By the time sales begin, more than 154,000 cases of cookies are expected to be distributed to local troops. Proceeds from cookie sales stay local, helping fund Girl Scout programs, events, camps and leadership opportunities throughout the year. The program also teaches girls valuable life and business skills. A new cookie joins the lineup this year: the Explorer More’s cookie, a sandwich-style treat inspired by Rocky Road ice cream. Fan favorites, including Thin Mints and peanut butter patties, are also making a return. Customers can find cookies through local troops or order online at girlscoutcookies.org.
