PHILADELPHIA--(WTXF)--A Good Samaritan stepped up when a local business owner lost a sizable check. FOX 29 did a little detective work to reunite that business owner with their money.

On a Wednesday a few weeks back, 50-year-old Fred Lofton, Sr. had just left Reading Terminal Market around lunchtime when he saw something strange on the ground at 12 th and Arch.
It was a check. $725, which was money apparently paid into an escrow account by the Pa. Liquor Control Board to a Steve Godfrey.
Lofton is a huge Good Day Philadelphia fan so he wrote us a letter with a simple request: find the rightful of the check.
FOX 29 entered Godfrey's name into Google and found his business; The Parish Pub in Mayfair. Turns out, he was at the Reading Terminal that day with a check and said it must have got lost in the process of getting lunch.
"What a good citizen," Godfrey said.
Godfrey personally called Lofton to thank him for his act of kindness.
"Always do the right thing," Lofton told FOX 29.
