HUNTING PARK (WTXF) - Police have identified a suspect in a homicide in the Hunting Park section of the city that occurred last week.
The incident occurred on the 700 block of W. Annsbury Street at 11:04 p.m. on September 29.
Officers responded to a report of a person with a gun in the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, 42-year-old Michael Thompson, lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to Temple Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m.
Flash information was given to officers of an unknown black male wearing a grey hooded sweat jacket who fled in a white vehicle.
Officers then saw a male exiting an alleyway at 8th and Wingohocking Streets from the direction of the scene of the shooting and he was stopped for investigation.
As a result of the investigation, the man was positively identified and taken into custody.
He has been identified as 28-year-old Gary Saunders and he has been charged with murder and related offenses.
