Tentative agreement reached at Community College of Philadelphia

A tentative agreement has been reached following 17 hours worth of labor negotiations between faculty and school officials at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Details of the agreements have not been released. Classes will be held Wednesday as scheduled.

The group of 1,200 full-time faculty, part-time faculty and classified class members were hoping for an increase in salary and benefits. Many point out that some workers still qualify for food assistance due to low pay.

The strike threat loomed just a few weeks before the semester's end. The vote itself stems from three years of contract negotiations that began in August 2016.

Around 28,000 students will be affected if the strike takes place.
