TRENTON, NJ - A Trenton police officer is recovering after being shot on Saturday night, according to police.
What we know:
The officer was shot around 9 p.m. on Oct. 4 on Perry Street near North Clinton Avenue. The New Jersey State PBA shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the officer's expected recovery.
The officer's family and the Trenton Police Department were mentioned in the post, asking for prayers and support during this time.
"Last night, an officer with the Trenton Police Department was shot in the leg while reaching for a suspect’s gun," New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said in a statement. "While the injury was non-life-threatening, we are praying for his speedy recovery. We are grateful to all law enforcement for everything they do to keep us safe."
What we don't know:
Neither the identity of the suspect or the officer have been released at this time.
