(FOX News)- It is now illegal to drive with Virginia license plates featuring the Confederate flag, but some citizens plan to defy the ban.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, called for the change this summer in the wake of the tragic Charleston church shooting.
About 1,600 Virginians received a warning letter last month informing them that they had until Oct. 4 to exchange their Confederate flag license plates in favor of new tags from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
So far, less than 200 have turned in their plates.
